Tony Smith is an experienced knee surgeon with a focus on disorders of the knee, specializing in Total and Partial knee replacement, complex revision surgery, osteotomies around the knee, and patella-femoral problems. He is also skilled in arthroscopic surgery of the knee and cruciate ligament reconstruction. Tony holds NHS posts as a Consultant Knee surgeon at RJAH Oswestry and Wrexham Maelor, with years of expertise in Trauma & orthopaedic surgery. Having completed his MB.ChB. in 1989 in Edinburgh and FRCS(Orth) in 2000 at the Royal College of Surgeons, Tony Smith is a trained Major (retd) knee surgeon. He is a member of the British Association for Surgery of the Knee (BASK) and has special interests in knee surgery, knee replacement surgery, unicompartmental knee replacement, revision knee replacement, osteotomy, arthroscopy, and ligament reconstruction. Tony has received awards for his contributions to the Spire GP and patient seminar/education programme. In addition to his medical expertise, Tony enjoys spending time with his family and engaging in outdoor activities like Sailing and Skiing, with a preference for doing so with a helicopter. His research interests include primary and revision knee arthroplasty, osteotomies around the knee, unicompartmental knee replacement, and outcome measures, demonstrating a comprehensive dedication to advancing knee surgery practices.
