Mr Tim White is an experienced Consultant Orthopaedic Trauma Surgeon specialising in acute sports injuries. He has been serving as the Clinical Director of the Orthopaedic Trauma Service and Senior Lecturer at the University of Edinburgh since 2006. With a focus on recovery from injury, he has a keen interest in utilising new biological therapies like PRP. In his NHS practice at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, Mr White handles acute knee injuries, complex knee reconstruction surgeries, and runs a national NHS referral service for patients with complex injuries referred by other knee specialists. Mr White, in addition to his NHS commitments, co-founded Joint Solutions in partnership with Dr Carrie McCrea. This initiative at The Edinburgh Clinic provides rapid diagnosis and treatment for sport-related injuries, catering to both amateur and professional athletes, including Scottish Premiership footballers. His expertise lies in a wide range of knee surgical procedures, from arthroscopic and open surgeries to non-surgical treatments like Platelet Rich Plasma injections. He also handles injuries to upper and lower limbs, shoulders, elbows, hands, as well as specialises in hip, ankle, and foot conditions. Author of the popular orthopaedic textbook 'McRae's Orthopaedic Trauma' and contributor to the esteemed 'Rockwood and Green's', Mr White's areas of interest include sports injuries, knee injuries, hip injuries, foot and ankle injuries. His research focuses on injury and recovery following injuries, specifically exploring the benefits of biological therapies such as PRP. Operating at The Edinburgh Clinic, he ensures patients receive comprehensive physiotherapy services for prehab and rehab, emphasizing the importance of maintaining relationships with referring physiotherapists for optimal patient care.
