About
Samuel Molyneux, a consultant at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, is an experienced trauma and orthopaedic surgeon with a specific focus on hand and wrist injuries. He leads the hand and wrist clinic and runs a trauma clinic for bone, joint, and muscle injuries. With over 8 years of expertise, Sam also specialises in lower limb sports injuries and exertional compartment syndrome. As the Training Programme Director for Trauma and Orthopaedics in South East Scotland, he is actively involved in organising conferences and conducting research on trauma-related topics. Having obtained his FRCS in Trauma & Orthopaedics in 2013 from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Sam's qualifications also include a BMedSci (Hons) and MBBS from Newcastle University, along with an MSc in Evidence Based Orthopaedics from the University of Teesside. He is a member of the Orthopaedic Trauma Society and a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Sam's research interests encompass wrist fractures, finger injuries, hand and wrist pain, humeral fractures, and exertional compartment syndrome. In addition to his medical work, Sam Molyneux is active in his personal pursuits, enjoying squash, running, and sailing in his free time. His dedication to improving patients' function and returning them to their desired activities is reflected in his approach to both NHS and private practice, where he prioritises maximising individuals' capabilities and quality of life.
