Mr Robert Ashford is a highly experienced Consultant Orthopaedic and Musculoskeletal Tumour Surgeon with over 13 years of expertise. He is sub-specialist trained in joint reconstruction and bone and soft tissue tumour surgery, with fellowships from renowned institutions in the UK and Australia. Mr Ashford holds the prestigious MD accolade from the University of Sheffield for his thesis on improving the patient journey in breast cancer metastatic to the skeleton. He is an Honorary Associate Professor in Cancer Studies at the University of Leicester and was granted the 2014 American-British-Canadian Traveling Fellowship by the British Orthopaedic Association, a rare honour in the field of orthopaedic surgery. Specialising in trauma & orthopaedic surgery, Mr Ashford's extensive experience encompasses the treatment of various hip and knee conditions, bone and soft tissue tumours, and trauma. He has a particular interest in knee surgery, hip disorders, and oncology, focusing on surgical techniques for sarcoma surgery, musculoskeletal tumours, and skeletal metastases. His sub-specialties include hip, knee, and oncological (bone tumour) surgeries. Furthermore, Mr Ashford's research interests lie in Desmoid Fibromatosis, Soft Tissue Sarcoma, and Skeletal Metastases. He is a member of prominent medical associations, including the British Orthopaedic Association and the British Sarcoma Group. Outside of his medical career, Mr Ashford is a devoted Leicester Tigers rugby fan, holding a season ticket and enjoys refereeing as an RFU Qualified Referee. He also has a passion for good food, rounding out his interests beyond the operating theatre.
