Mr Paul Hodgson is a highly experienced Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon with over 20 years of expertise. He qualified from Cardiff Medical School in 2000 and further trained in orthopaedic & trauma surgery in South Wales before gaining fellowship training in Bristol under Mr Ian Winson. Currently, Mr Hodgson holds NHS positions at both UHW & University Hospital Llandough, where he also serves as an Honorary Lecturer at Cardiff University and leads foot and ankle services. He specialises in foot & ankle trauma, ankle sports injuries, arthroscopic surgery, and deformity correction, with a particular interest in elective foot & ankle surgery. In 2013, Mr Hodgson was awarded an MD for his research on a cartilage disorder. As a Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon, Mr Hodgson focuses on foot and ankle sub-specialties, such as ankle arthroscopy, subtalar arthroscopy, and rheumatoid arthritis. He is a member of various prestigious medical organisations, including the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society and the Royal College of Surgeons England. Mr Hodgson has published extensively in the field, with notable works on topics like hind-foot arthritis and technical tips for surgery, contributing significantly to orthopaedic literature. Apart from his medical pursuits, Mr Hodgson enjoys interests beyond the hospital walls, including sports, cinema, music, and spending quality time with his family. A former university football player turned spectator, he maintains a keen interest in athletics. His research interests focus on ankle arthritis, cartilage disorders & repair, Achilles Tendon, shockwave therapy, and ankle sprains, showcasing his commitment to advancing orthopaedic care.
