Mr Nick Howells is an experienced consultant specialist orthopaedic knee surgeon based in Bristol. He has over 10 years of expertise in knee surgery, focusing on cartilage, meniscal, and ligament injury repair, as well as knee replacement procedures. With a background in medical education, Mr Howells is actively involved in teaching and training, holding the post of Honorary Lecturer at the University of Bristol. He is also engaged in clinical research trials aimed at improving patient outcomes in areas such as persistent pain after knee replacement and the use of stem cells in meniscal injury healing. Having completed his specialist orthopaedic training in the Bristol rotation, Mr Howells underwent advanced fellowship training in Australia, gaining diverse experience in knee surgery. He was awarded a Masters Degree in Surgical Technology for his research work on using simulators to train orthopaedic surgeons and a Medical Research Doctorate in Orthopaedic Surgery from the University of Bristol. Over the years, he has authored numerous research publications and contributed to textbooks on orthopaedic surgery. Furthermore, his dedication to medical education led to him being recognised with the Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy in 2014. Aside from his professional pursuits, Nick Howells, who lives outside Bristol with his family, enjoys a range of sports activities including golf, cycling, and skiing. His previous involvement in representative Cricket, Hockey, and Squash highlights his active lifestyle. These interests complement his meticulous approach to patient care and research in the field of knee surgery, where he remains committed to advancing knowledge and improving treatment outcomes for his patients.
