Mr Neil Slater is a highly experienced consultant in Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery, with qualifications dating back to 1983 from Cambridge University/Guy's Hospital. He obtained his FRCS(Ed) in 1987 and FCRS(Orth) in 1992. With over 25 years of expertise, Mr Slater has held various positions, including Consultant T+O Surgery at The Maidstone Hospital from 1994 to 2019 and a previous role as Chair of the SE Thames T+O Surgery Training Circuit. Currently, he serves as a Consultant T+O Surgery at Maidstone +Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. Specialising in hip and spine surgeries, Mr Slater's areas of interest include elective lumbar spinal surgery, lumbar discectomy, lumbar spinal decompression, and coccygectomy. He has a strong research background with over 20 peer-reviewed publications, focusing on all aspects of T+O Surgery. His current research projects involve topics such as the management options for retained epidural catheter in the spinal canal and minimising unnecessary theatre door opening. Additionally, Mr Slater provides courses to General Practitioners as organised by local private hospitals. Outside his medical practice, Mr Slater enjoys a variety of interests such as Test Cricket, Shakespearean theatre, rugby coaching at Sevenoaks rugby club, playing for Addington Cricket Club in Kent, attending live music events and cinema, and studying foreign languages including French, Italian, and German.
