Michael Woodruff

Mr Michael Woodruff is an orthopaedic Hand, Wrist, and Trauma Surgeon with extensive experience and expertise, particularly in Hand and Wrist surgery. He currently serves as a Consultant at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, with a special interest in trauma and orthopaedic surgery. His dedication to education is evident through his formal roles as a teacher and trainer within his Trust and the North West Deanery. Mr Woodruff's commitment to surgical excellence is further highlighted by his position as a Regional Surgical Advisor for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Having completed three Hand surgery fellowships during his training, Mr Woodruff has established himself as a specialist in Hand and Wrist surgery, offering sub-specialisations in these areas. Alongside his NHS role, he is a Member of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers and holds memberships with the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA) and the British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH). With a focus on publications ranging from Dupuytren's contracture to Carpal tunnel surgery, his qualifications include a MB ChB from the University of Sheffield in 1994, FRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1998, and further accreditations in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery. Beyond his professional achievements, Mr Woodruff is an ECB qualified level 2 cricket coach and has a passion for playing the guitar. His research interests in areas such as Base of thumb arthritis and wrist fractures showcase his ongoing dedication to advancing the field of Hand and Wrist surgery.
