Mark Jones

Mark Jones is an experienced Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a special interest in knee surgery. He graduated from Imperial College School of Medicine in London in 2009 and completed his higher surgical training in the Kent, Surrey, and Sussex region. Mark also gained international experience in Brisbane, Australia, where he undertook a fellowship with world-renowned surgeons in knee surgery, including the management of sports injuries in professional athletes and computer-assisted knee replacement. Since 2021, he has been working as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Trust. Mark specializes in total and unicompartmental knee replacements, as well as ligament reconstruction and arthroscopic procedures such as meniscal repairs. He is a member of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and actively participates in teaching. He is also a member of the BOA, BASK, and the South East Thames Knee Study Group. In his spare time, Mark enjoys participating in sports, having completed a local Olympic-distance triathlon, as well as the Gold Coast and London marathons. Mark holds multiple qualifications, including the FRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2019, an MBBS from Imperial College School of Medicine, London in 2009, and a BSc from Imperial College, London in 2007. His areas of interest include knee surgery, ligament reconstruction, meniscal injuries and repairs, arthroplasty, and arthroscopy. He is affiliated with the Spencer Private Hospitals in Margate and is a part of several professional organizations, including the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA), British Association for Surgery of the Knee (BASK), and the Royal College of Surgeons (England) (RCS). In addition to his medical career, Mark is married and has two children. He enjoys leading an active lifestyle and has participated in various endurance events such as triathlons and marathons, including the London Marathon.
