Mark Forster

Mr Mark Forster is an experienced knee surgeon with a focus on treating all aspects of knee surgery, performing over 350 knee operations annually. He received extensive specialist training through Fellowships in the UK and Australia, where he worked with world-leading surgeons in designing knee replacements and pioneering joint replacement techniques. With over 40 published papers and 50 national and international presentations, Mr Forster's clinical research interests include arthroscopic surgery, knee ligament reconstruction, and the treatment of knee arthritis in young patients. His NHS posts include Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon roles at Cardiff & Vale NHS Health Board's University Hospital of Wales and Llandough Hospital. Having qualified from Sheffield University in 1993, Mr Forster holds prestigious qualifications such as FRCS Ed and FRCS (Orth) from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Specialising in trauma & orthopaedic surgery, he is a member of various surgical associations, including the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh and the British Association for Surgery of the Knee. Beyond knee surgery, his interests span from soft tissue disorders to sports injuries, showcasing his expertise in different aspects of orthopaedic care. Additionally, Mr Forster offers video and telephone consultations for patient convenience. Outside of his medical career, Mr Forster indulges in travelling to unique locations, enjoying the outdoors with hill walks and beach strolls, and relishing good food and company. A passionate football fan, he is a family man married with a son. His research focuses on ACL reconstruction, knee replacements, and innovative techniques for treating knee conditions in active young patients, reflecting his commitment to advancing orthopaedic care.
