Jonathan Phillips is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon based in Exeter. With years of experience, he specializes in treating patients with knee conditions, specifically in knee arthroscopy, joint replacement, and trauma surgery. Mr Phillips is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and has completed Fellowships training in knee surgery in Exeter and Nottingham, as well as a Travelling Fellowship to Chicago. He is currently working at the renowned Exeter Knee Reconstruction Unit at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital. Alongside his training, Mr Phillips holds a Master's Degree in Sports Medicine from the University of Bath and was a Medical Team Leader at the London 2012 Olympics. He is actively involved in training, research, and governance, serving on advisory boards and editorial committees. In his NHS role, Mr Phillips is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Exeter Knee Reconstruction Unit in the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the British Orthopaedic Association and the British Association for Surgery of the Knee. Mr Phillips has contributed to numerous publications, including an invited review publication for the Annals of the Royal College of Surgeons. He is also involved in training surgeons and is a part of the AO trauma faculty. Additionally, Mr Phillips serves as the National Clinical Lead for the Peer Support Programme 'Joint Understanding' with Arthritis Research UK, coordinating support groups for knee replacement patients. Outside of his medical work, Mr Phillips enjoys spending time outdoors with his family and participating in sports such as rugby and tennis. He has achieved success in tennis competitions and represents Bovey Tracey Tennis Club in matches. With a keen interest in research, Mr Phillips is actively involved in knee surgery research, particularly focusing on pain and infection after knee replacement. He has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and is on the editorial committee of the BJ360 orthopaedic journal. Mr Phillips also regularly speaks at national and international conferences as an invited speaker.
