Mr Jeya Palan is a highly experienced Consultant T&O surgeon with over 20 years of expertise. He works at Chapel Allerton Hospital within Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and Leeds General Infirmary. Specialising in primary and revision hip and knee arthroplasty, Mr Palan has a particular interest in managing periprosthetic joint infections and fractures. His impressive academic background includes a medical degree from Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine, University of London, a 1st class BSc (honours) degree in Immunology and Cell Pathology from University College London, and a PhD from the University of Leicester. He has received numerous academic prizes and awards, such as the prestigious Professor Joe Harper Plate for outstanding performance as a specialist registrar in Trauma and Orthopaedics. With a strong focus on hip and knee replacements, Mr Jeya Palan has undergone specialist fellowship training at reputable institutions in the UK and internationally. He has conducted extensive research in the field, resulting in over 40 peer-reviewed publications and co-authoring several orthopaedics textbooks. Serving as an Associate Editor on the editorial board of the BJJ and being appointed as a National Joint Registry (NJR) fellow showcase his leadership and contribution to the field. Additionally, Mr Palan is a member of various medical associations, including the Royal College of Surgeons of England, the British Orthopaedic Association, and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. In his spare time, Mr Palan enjoys exploring the Yorkshire countryside with his family and participating in sports like triathlons, football, cricket, rugby, golf, and tennis. His research interests include outcomes of hip and knee replacements, periprosthetic joint infections, periprosthetic fractures, day case surgery, and the use of wearable sensors in monitoring patients. He has been recognised for his academic achievements, receiving national research grants and making significant contributions to the field through publications and editorial roles.
