Mr Jay Smith is a highly experienced lower limb reconstruction surgeon specializing in primary and revision joint replacement surgeries of both the Hip and Knee. He obtained his medical qualification from The Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine, London in 2001. He underwent specialist orthopaedic training on the North West Thames rotation, with additional experience in complex lower limb reconstruction and Pelvic Fracture fixation at Charing Cross Hospital. Mr Smith further enhanced his expertise by completing a Hip Fellowship at Guy�s & St Thomas� Hospitals, focusing on Hip Arthroscopy, Young Adult Hip pathology, and Primary & Revision Hip Arthroplasty. He also completed a Knee Fellowship at the same institution, specializing in Primary & Revision Knee Arthroplasty, including complex cases in Sickle Cell and Haemophilia patients. Since 2012, Mr Smith has been working as a Consultant at Hillingdon & Mount Vernon Hospitals, where he has established a successful practice in lower limb surgery, particularly in the field of hip and knee joint replacements. In terms of his training and qualifications, Mr Smith holds a Diploma in Sports & Exercise Medicine from the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh, MRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons England, BSc(Hons) from the University of London, and MBBS from the University of London. He also obtained the FRCS Tr & Orth qualification from the Royal College of Surgeons England in 2009. Mr Smith is a member of various professional organizations, including the British Orthopaedic Association, British Medical Association, and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons. He has a keen interest in knee arthroscopy, partial knee replacement, total knee replacement, revision total knee replacement, total hip replacement, revision total hip replacement, as well as the revision of metal-on-metal total hip replacement. In his NHS role, Mr Smith is affiliated with The Hillingdon Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Mount Vernon Hospital. However, for private consultations, he is available at Clementine Churchill Hospital and Bishops Wood Hospital.
