Mr James McConway is an experienced Trauma and Orthopaedic surgeon with a special interest in Shoulder and Elbow conditions. He graduated from Queen's University Belfast in 1998 and completed his six-year training in the Northern Ireland Higher Surgical Training Programme. Mr McConway also spent 1 1/2 years in full-time research, sponsored by the Belfast Arthroplasty Research Trust. He successfully completed the FRCS (Trauma & Orthopaedics) examination in 2011. He further enhanced his skills by completing a fellowship in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery at Glasgow Royal Infirmary and an 18-month fellowship in primary hip replacement. Mr McConway is a member of the British Orthopaedic Association and the British Elbow and Shoulder Society. He holds NHS consultant positions at The Ulster Hospital Dundonald and Musgrave Park Hospital Belfast. Mr McConway's main special interests include shoulder and elbow conditions, shoulder replacement, arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, subacromial decompression, acromioclavicular joint excision, and shoulder stabilisation surgery. He is also experienced in clavicle fixation, tennis/golfers elbow treatment/surgery, carpal tunnel release, cubital tunnel release, and radial head excision. His expertise and dedication to his field make him a highly sought-after surgeon. In addition to his NHS roles, Mr McConway also offers consultations and treatments at the Ulster Independent Clinic and Kingsbridge Private Hospital. He is fellowship trained in all shoulder/elbow surgery and carpal tunnel release.
