About
Mr Ian Sharpe is a highly experienced and specialized orthopaedic surgeon. He graduated from St Mary's Hospital, London in 1991 and completed his general surgical and orthopaedic training in the South West of England. He has undertaken Fellowships in Sydney and Seattle, gaining his FRCS(Tr&Orth) accreditation in 2001. Mr Sharpe has been appointed as a consultant at the Princess Elizabeth Orthopaedic Centre in Exeter since 2003. He established the Foot and Ankle unit, which has grown to include four consultants, and served as the Clinical Lead for the team from 2014 to 2021. He was also Clinical Director of the orthopaedic Centre from 2014 to 2018. Mr Sharpe has a special interest in ankle replacement surgery and has established an internationally recognized ankle replacement primary and revision unit. He is a member of several professional associations, including the Royal College of Surgeons, the British Orthopaedic Association, and the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society. Mr Ian Sharpe currently holds the position of Consultant Foot, Ankle, and Trauma Surgeon at the Princess Elizabeth Orthopaedic Centre located at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital in Exeter. He also practices at the Nuffield Health Exeter Hospital. His specialties include trauma and orthopaedic surgery, with a sub-specialty in Foot and Ankle. He is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons, the British Orthopaedic Association, the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, and the BMA. In addition to his qualifications and expertise, Mr Sharpe has a keen interest in research and has published papers on ankle replacement surgery. Outside of his professional life, he enjoys participating in triathlons and cycling. With his vast experience and commitment to his field, Mr Ian Sharpe is a highly respected and sought-after orthopaedic surgeon in the UK.
