Mr Guy Slater is a highly experienced consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon who has been practicing since 1989. After completing his training at Guy's Hospital in London, he went on to complete his postgraduate orthopaedic training in S.E. Thames. He also spent a year as a senior fellow at the prestigious Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney, Australia. In 2002, he was appointed as a consultant at the Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust, where he also served as the clinical director of his department for three and a half years. His specializations include lower limb surgery, with a focus on primary hip and knee replacements. Currently, he is the lower limb lead consultant at KIMS Hospital. He is a member of the British Hip Society and the UK steering committee of the ATLS at the Royal College of Surgeons. Mr Slater is also actively involved in the rugby community, serving as the match day doctor for Kent RFU and Old Elthamians RFC (Nat League 1). Mr Guy Slater's qualifications include an MBBS from the University of London in 1989 and FRCS (Eng) in 1994 from the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He obtained FRCS (Tr&Orth) in 2000 from the Intercollegiate Board. He is a fellow of the British Orthopaedic Association and a member of the British Hip Society and the British Orthopaedic Directors Society. He is also qualified as an Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) course director. In terms of specializations, Mr Slater focuses on hip and knee surgeries. His areas of interest include hip replacement, knee replacement, knee arthroscopy, lower limb trauma, revision hip surgery, hip pain, knee pain, knee keyhole surgery, hip arthroplasty, knee arthroplasty, trochanteric bursitis, greater trochanteric pain syndrome, meniscal tear, and hip injury. His research interests revolve around hip surgery, both elective and trauma-related. Apart from his medical career, Mr Slater has personal interests in coaching rugby, holding a level 2 qualification, and serving as a team doctor for Old Elthamians (Nat Div 1). He is also involved in PreHospital Immediate Care in Sport at Level 3 and serves as a match day doctor for the Kent RFU Senior men's and U20 XV teams. He is dedicated to the field of trauma care and serves as a member of the UK Steering Committee for ATLS.
