George Cox is a highly experienced upper limb consultant surgeon specializing in treating shoulder, elbow, and hand conditions. He has expertise in both "keyhole" and "open" surgical techniques. Mr. Cox was appointed as an upper limb consultant to the University Hospital Southampton in 2016. He completed his specialist orthopaedic training in Hampshire and Oxfordshire and has received specialist upper limb fellowships at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Hospital in Oxford and at the University Hospital Southampton. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and a member of the British Orthopaedic Society and British Elbow & Shoulder Society. Mr. Cox has published over 30 peer-reviewed papers and is an author in internationally recognized medical textbooks. He holds a Medical Doctorate for research from Leeds University and is actively involved in teaching trauma care and conducting national research trials. Training as an upper limb fellow and shoulder fellow has further enhanced Mr. Cox's expertise in his specializations. He holds several memberships, including the Royal College of Surgeons (Fellow), British Orthopaedic Association (Member), and British Elbow & Shoulder Society (Member). Mr. Cox has contributed to various research publications and has received recognition for his work on mesenchymal stem cells, resulting in the award of a Medical Doctorate. He serves as a reviewer for medical journals and leads national research trials. In addition to his NHS practice at the University Hospital Southampton, Mr. Cox also practices at Spire Southampton Hospital and Nuffield Health Wessex Hospital. Outside of his medical career, Mr. Cox enjoys spending time with his young family in the Hampshire countryside and is passionate about running. His research interests include mesenchymal stem cells, shoulder trauma, and arthroscopic shoulder surgery.
