Dushan Thavarajah

Mr Dushan Thavarajah is a highly experienced Consultant Spinal Surgeon. He obtained his medical degree from University College London in 2006 and completed his specialist training in trauma and orthopaedics in the Wessex Deanery. Dushan further honed his expertise in complex spinal surgery through fellowships in Hong Kong, Southampton, Exeter, and Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children. He has been recognized for his contributions to the field, receiving the British Association of Spine Surgeons and British Scoliosis Society President's travelling fellowship. Currently, Dushan serves as an NHS Consultant Spinal Surgeon at the Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton and Somerset NHS Foundation Trust. He also holds the position of Visiting Consultant Spinal Surgeon at States of Health, Jersey. Dushan specializes in all aspects of adult and pediatric spinal surgery, providing individualized spinal care using the latest techniques. His areas of interest include degenerative spine conditions, trauma, deformity corrections, and tumor stabilization. He is skilled in minimally invasive spinal surgery, anterior lumbar spine surgery, cervical disc replacement, vertebroplasty, and spinal injections. Dushan is an active member of AO Spine and the British Association of Spinal Surgeons (BASS). He has contributed to numerous publications and acts as a peer reviewer for the Spine Journal. Dushan has also presented at various conferences, including BritSpine, BASS, British Scoliosis Society, and the Society of British Neurosurgeons. Outside of his professional commitments, Dushan enjoys various activities to maintain his fitness. He particularly enjoys running, road cycling, skiing in the winter, and is currently learning to kite surf.
