David Duffy

Mr Dave Duffy (GMC no. 4122106) is an experienced knee surgeon with specializations in joint replacement surgery, ACL reconstruction, and arthroscopic surgery. He has treated elite athletes and professional footballers, and has expertise in sports injuries such as knee ligament reconstruction and meniscal surgery. Graduating from Newcastle University, Mr Duffy trained as a junior doctor in Australia before returning to the UK for specialist training in Orthopaedic Surgery. He is currently the Clinical Lead for Orthopaedics at Harrogate District Hospital and has private consulting rooms at BMI The Duchy Hospital in Harrogate and Nuffield Hospital in Leeds. He is committed to patient communication and believes in providing clear explanations of diagnoses and treatment options. Mr Duffy is involved in the QIST study to improve outcomes for knee replacement surgery and has been recognized with the 'Infection Prevention and Control Initiative of the Year' award at the 2019 HSJ Patient Safety Awards. Mr Duffy's NHS posts include Consultant Orthopaedic Knee Surgeon at Harrogate District Hospital and Clinical Lead for Orthopaedics at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust. He is a member of the British Orthopaedic Association, Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh, and the BMA. He has qualifications including FRCS (Trauma & Ortho) and MRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh, and an MBBS from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne. He offers CPD courses to General Practitioners and specializes in trauma & orthopaedic surgery. His sub-specialties include knee and pediatric surgery. In addition to his work in knee surgery, Mr Duffy has personal interests in all forms of joint replacement surgery of the knee, sports injuries such as ligament reconstruction and meniscal surgery, as well as ACL & PCL reconstruction and arthroscopic surgery. He is involved in research on partial and total knee replacement and ligament reconstruction.
