Mr Arthur Stephen is an experienced consultant orthopaedic surgeon with expertise in trauma and orthopaedic surgery. He completed his medical training at University College & Middlesex Hospitals School of Medicine in London and underwent specialist training in orthopaedics in the Mid Trent region. Mr Stephen has a special interest in lower limb arthroplasty, particularly in hip replacements including revisions and resurfacing. He has played a significant role in the development of the Royal Derby Hospital as a reference centre for the use of the Exeter hip replacement. Additionally, he is involved in the development of new hip replacement designs with various companies. In terms of his NHS involvement, Mr Stephen is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Royal Derby Hospital and serves as the Divisional Medical Director for Surgery. He is also a member of the Professional Practice Committee of the British Orthopaedic Association. Membership-wise, he is affiliated with both the British Orthopaedic Association and the British Hip Society. Mr Stephen has several qualifications, including FRCS(Tr & Orth) in 2002, FRCS(Eng) in 1997, MB BS from University College Hospital in 1993, and a BSc from the University of London in 1990. Apart from his specializations, Mr Stephen has an interest in video and telephone consultations. His areas of interest encompass hip and knee replacements, knee arthroscopy, and injection therapies for hip and knee problems. He also conducts research on hip and knee replacement survivorship and periprosthetic fracture treatments.
