Mr Arthur Galea is a highly experienced Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon specializing in knee surgery. He graduated from the University of Malta in 1995 and completed his specialist training in the North East Thames Rotation. During his training, he focused on knee surgery at prestigious hospitals such as the Royal Free and Royal National Orthopaedic Hospitals. Mr Galea also underwent fellowship programs in Sydney, Australia, where he gained expertise in computer-guided knee replacements, knee ligament reconstruction, and other knee surgeries. He has been working as a substantive consultant at the Royal Free Hospital since 2011, where he has developed a successful NHS Knee practice. Mr Galea is also involved in teaching and education, supervising MSc students and serving as a clinical and educational supervisor for Foundation Year doctors. Mr Galea's specializations include primary and revision knee replacement, primary hip replacement, knee ligament reconstruction, arthroscopic knee surgery, knee realignment surgery, and lower limb trauma surgery. He is committed to improving patient outcomes and has set up an Enhanced Recovery Programme for total hip and knee replacements. Mr Galea is actively involved in teaching and has been an ATLS instructor since 2003. He also teaches courses on knee replacement surgery and knee arthroscopy at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. In addition, he is a member of several professional organizations including the GMC, BMA, and RCS Edinburgh. Outside of his medical career, Mr Galea has personal interests in photography and custom building rc rock racers. He is a well-respected surgeon with a focus on providing high-quality care to his patients at the Royal Free Hospital.
