Anwar Jafri

Mr Anwar Jafri is a Consultant in Lower Limb (Hip & Knee) Replacement and Trauma with a special interest in revision surgery. He has completed his undergraduate education at the Universities of Birmingham and Newcastle and underwent basic and higher surgical training in the North of England. Mr Jafri has gained extensive experience in performing complex joint replacements and reconstruction of failing hip and knee replacements during his prestigious Revision Arthroplasty and Trauma Fellowship in Auckland, New Zealand. He is actively involved in education, training, and research, with several published papers and presentations both nationally and internationally. Mr Jafri holds the position of an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer for the University of Newcastle. In his NHS role, Mr Jafri serves as a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedics Surgeon at the University Hospital North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Trust. He also consults at Nuffield Health Tees Hospital and Ramsay Tees Valley Hospital. His specialties include trauma & orthopaedic surgery, with sub-specialties in the hip and knee. Mr Jafri's areas of interest encompass lower limb disorders such as arthritis, hip pain, groin pain, knee pain, and arthritis, as well as joint replacement surgery, arthroscopy, meniscectomy, hip and knee replacements, revision surgeries, and injections into the hip and knees. Outside of his professional life, Mr Jafri is passionate about sports, particularly football and cricket. He enjoys playing and watching these sports in his leisure time. Moreover, Mr Jafri actively engages in research activities, with a focus on femoral stems cementation techniques, reducing the risk of infections in joint replacement surgery, and evaluating new knee replacements. He has also served as a reviewer for scientific articles in the British Medical Journal and has been involved in research on metal-on-metal hips at the North Tees unit.
