Andrew Wheelton

Andrew Wheelton, an experienced Consultant Hip and Knee surgeon, has been serving at the Northern Care Alliance NHS Trust since 2019. Having grown up in Oldham and obtained his medical degree with Distinction from the University of Newcastle, Mr Wheelton furthered his expertise with orthopaedic training in the Northwest of England. He undertook a prestigious International Fellowship in complex and revision hip and knee replacement surgery at Sunnybrook Holland Centre in Toronto, Canada. This training, along with a Royal College of Surgeons Award and a Current Concepts Foundation Scholarship, has contributed to his cutting-edge practice. Andrew has been recognised for his commitment to education, receiving a Certificate of Excellence in Education from Health Education England. His practice is patient-centred, evidence-based, and aims for the best possible outcomes for each individual. Mr Wheelton specialises in Trauma & Orthopaedic surgery, with specific interests in Hip and Knee Pain, Hip and Knee Replacement Surgery, Partial Knee Replacement Surgery, Keyhole Knee Surgery for Meniscal Tears, and Injection therapy for knee and hip arthritis, including PRP and Hyaluronic Acid. He is dedicated to providing patient-specific care and ensuring clear communication regarding treatment options. Andrew has been actively involved in research, with publications in leading medical journals, presentations at national and international meetings, and memberships with the Royal College of Surgeons. Beyond his medical expertise, Mr Wheelton enjoys football, golf, skiing, and travel. His research interests focus on hip and knee replacement surgery.
