He is the co-ordinator of the Exeter Knee Reconstruction Unit and serves as an educational supervisor for various healthcare professionals. Professor Toms was recognized as one of the top UK knee surgeons in the Daily Mail's list, based on recommendations from his fellow consultant surgeons. He is known for his technical skills, empathy towards patients, and extensive experience in complex knee replacements. Throughout his career, Professor Toms has received prestigious awards and accolades, including the Charnley Trust Foundation Award and the Professor's Medal, among others. Professor Toms holds the position of Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust.
