Mr Adam Budgen is an experienced Senior Foot and Ankle Consultant with 16 years of experience in Trauma Orthopaedic and Sports disorders of the lower limb. He has performed over 15,000 operations and is specialized in foot and ankle conditions such as bunions, big toe ankle and hindfoot arthritis, ligament surgery, and sports conditions of the lower limb. Mr Budgen is based in Leeds and York but has worked around the world, particularly in Australia. He is known for pioneering Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) for hallux valgus and rigidus, which provides excellent clinical outcomes and faster recovery. Mr Budgen has also developed innovative treatments for ankle and foot arthroscopy, Achilles repair, and ligament surgery. He has extensive experience treating elite athletes in various sports. Mr Budgen holds the position of Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon at York Hospital NHS Trust and Clifton Park Hospital. He has obtained several qualifications, including FRCS (Tr and Orth) from RCS England in 2000, BSc from London University in 1987, MB BS from London University in 1990, and FRCS Eng from RCS England in 1996. He is a member of BOFAS, BOA, and WOC and has published articles on topics such as Achilles repair, conservative versus open and minimally invasive surgery, and management of syndesmosis injuries in reputable medical journals. He also conducts regular seminars throughout North Yorkshire for General Practitioners. In addition to his professional interests, Mr Budgen has personal interests in Hallux Valgus and Big Toe Arthritis, Achilles Tendinopathy, Sports and Lateral Ligament injuries of the Ankle, Syndesmosis injuries of the Ankle, Ankle Arthritis, Achilles Rupture & Repair, PRP injections and ESWT, Turf toe and Lesser toe injuries, and plantar plate tears repair surgery. He is actively involved in research on Achilles injuries and repair, syndesmosis and lateral ligament injuries of the Ankle, ESWT for plantar fasciitis, sports foot and ankle conditions, and bunion surgery.
