Mr Breakwell is a highly experienced orthopaedic spinal consultant and is considered one of the leading figures in spinal surgery. He is active not only in providing the best care for his patients but is also involved in improving standards of spinal surgery nationally. He is an active member within the British Association of Spinal Surgeons (BASS), sits on a specialist advisory panel for the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE), and is a trustee and council member of the British Orthopaedic Association. He is also involved in teaching future surgeons in his post as a senior clinical lecturer at the University of Sheffield.
